HOOPS PREDICTIONS

This is my best first-round mock of the year, and I’m not sure how I feel about North Carolina as a No. 4, and Virginia as a No. 5, overall seed. Maybe I should give this season a try.

— Nick Friedell, N.C. State

PREDICTION UPDATE: The mocks are starting to come together, and we have Duke.

— Kevin O’Connor, N.C. State

PREDICTION UPDATE: There’s a lot of positivity about Duke’s path to the Final Four, but I’m not ready to get too high just yet.

— Josh Alper, Penn State

PREDICTION UPDATE: Oklahoma makes it in as a No. 10 seed, likely against a No. 7, I would think.

— Charles Curtis, Houston

PREDICTION UPDATE: North Carolina looks great in a win over NC State. There’s a lot of thinking that they’ll get a No. 4 or a No. 5, or a No. 6 seed, if they win.

— Anthony Slater, FTW

PREDICTION UPDATE: On the tournament bubble, Oklahoma gets the No. 5 seed it deserves.

— Jared Weiss, Oregon

PREDICTION UPDATE: Kansas goes down to Vanderbilt in a big West Regional first-round game.

— Colin Cowherd, FS1

PREDICTION UPDATE: Baylor moves into the Sweet 16 with wins over N.C. State and Auburn in the West Region.

— Will C. Holden, Louisville

BOYS BASKETBALL

Eddie Sefko, Dallas Morning News

PREDICTION UPDATE: Duke finishes the season strong with two wins in the ACC Tournament, and advances to the Elite Eight. The Blue Devils would then take on Michigan State.

— Dave McMenamin, The Athletic

ROAD NO. 6: Taking a look at the Texas teams who are playing the last weekend of the season. In the men’s bracket, Baylor made the Sweet 16 and Kansas State went to the Elite Eight. In the women’s bracket, Oklahoma State is in the Sweet 16 and Texas Tech is playing for a third seed. Texas is 6-0 on the road this season.

— Marcus Mosher, Bleacher Report

PREDICTION UPDATE: The Longhorns will have an interesting spring of emotions. With their current lead over Kansas State, Texas will finish with a NIT bid (probably against UNLV or either UC Davis or UC Santa Barbara). The Longhorns will have gone from NIT hopeful to legit NCAA tournament consideration. Although they might have the most stressful travel situation of any remaining team.

— Dylan Buell, Texas

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trey Wingo, NBA on TNT

PREDICTION UPDATE: Let’s pretend that everyone knows that I am a Justin Martin fan. I’m going to pick UConn against Notre Dame in the Final Four. I still think Texas loses to Oregon and Kentucky goes to Dallas in the Elite Eight.

— Brady Henderson, CBS Sports

PREDICTION UPDATE: The semifinals? Team USA. No. 4 seed UConn. No. 1 seed Notre Dame. No. 3 seed Texas A&M.

— Brett McMurphy, ESPN

PREDICTION UPDATE: UConn, Notre Dame, and Texas are the Final Four teams, but my thinking is that UConn will need to hold off Texas in the quarters.
