But who is Salah? Do the stats back up the hype, or are they slightly misleading? Is he the Golden Boot winner or the least-recognised man in the Premier League? Let’s see what they say…
Salah’s value
Salah’s goal-to-game ratio (one goal per 0.66 goals), is on the more modest side for a forward of his talents, but his ranking is undoubtedly high for a forward of his repute. A player as effective, that can create chances as well as hit the back of the net, and one that can also operate in the role of creator is to be valued highly. He’s right up there with Messi and Ronaldo in this regard.
Salah’s standard
Salah’s standard, calculated for individual goals in all football competitions, is currently 15.87. This would put him 12th, if he had a ranking at the start of the season. What we do know is, it is the most for a forward so far, and is the standard within which his other stats fall.
Mo Salah’s season thus far
Salah’s season so far will be considered by many a good one for a striker. His appearances (27) is the most for any forward, and his goals (13) are the most by any forward at this stage of the season. His performance in the Europa League final confirmed him as one of the Premier League’s most influential players. His record against Chelsea also gives you further confidence, having taken 13 goals in 19 appearances against them in all competitions.
